It is the argument, and how you decide to present and back up your argument, that will influence your decision on how to structure your essay. The middle part of the essay must fulfil the promises made in your introduction, and must support your final conclusions. Failure to meet either or both of these requirements will irritate your reader, and will demonstrate a lack of self-critique and of editing. The composers Haydn and Mozart, working in the 18th century, tended to write symphonies to fit reliably and closely within what was called âsymphonic formâ. This set out a pattern for the numbers of movements within the symphony, and for the general structure of writing within each movement. The continued popularity of their work today shows that they clearly managed to achieve plenty of interest and variety within that basic structure. Pre-Written Research Papers Why to Start Writing in Advance
Most students are guilty of procrastinating works, especially when it comes to research papers. However, putting off a big important project until the last minute not only leads to a mountain of stress, it will set up for failure too. Do yourself a favor and break the habit of procrastination. Start by making the effort to pre-write works in advance. Pre-written research papers can be extremely beneficial for students. For example, they allow students to perform better brainstorming activities. The best part is that dropping the procrastination of starting research papers provides so many other additional benefits. Take a look at the following reasons to start forming such a habit. Not Establishing a Thesis Statement Early Creates More Work A thesis statement gives the main direction and outline of the paper. Failing to already have a good one before beginning the paper could lead to researching without a clear direction of the paperââ¬â¢s subject. Early Writing Supports Adequate Research for the Thesis If there is not enough research to support your thesis, it is better to find it out in advance. Finding out early on will grant you efficient time to either revise the thesis or adopt a new one. Attention to Detail Benefits from Early Work Your instructor will definitely require some specific conditions for your paper. This includes citations, formatting, themes, and so on. If you throw everything together at the last minute, you would miss some specifications. Starting early allows you to pay more attention to details. Extra Time Can Be Used for Consulting Peers If the paper is completed before the deadline, you will have more time for peer revision. You can enlist the help of another student, an instructor, or a tutor to review your work for improvement suggestions. Time-Management Alleviates Stress Students face enough pressure in their studies. There is no reason to add the stress while cramming a research paper. Pre-writing the assignment gives the student more control, time, and confidence. Taking the extra time will result in a higher-quality research paper, as such assignments require more than just good writing, they need solid support. The amount of time you take to go over supporting evidence can make or break your grade. The instructor will be able to wade through any ââ¬Å"fluffâ⬠to see if you have used any solid research to support your work. So, to make sure that you will get the best possible grade for your piece, take your time. You do not have to spend every waking moment on the paper, just start in advance. If you take on an assignment like this just a little bit at a time, you will be able to catch any deficiencies in your work early. With enough attention and planning, you could have a solid, stress-free research paper!

The World Economic Power And Its Impact On The Economy
In this book, Dobbs, Manyika, and Woetzel believe the world is almost constantly discontinued. Many long-held assumptions, long-term projections, and long-stand trends have been upended by disruptive technologies, trends, and developments. A completely different world is being formed by four main forces. The first force is the development of emerging markets and the growing urbanization within these markets (Cooper, 2015). The world economic power is moving to east and south. As an example, China is predicted to have most large companies located in rather than the United States or Europe by 2025. Equally important, economic activities are arising within these emerging markets. For instance, a Chinese city Tianjin, who had a same size GDPâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The final power is the tighter global connection in capital, people, and information. The connection between the countries has already become an intricate web from a series of lines simply connecting core trading pivots of developed economies. The capital flows between emerging markets; the trades between developing areas and the people crossed borders have all experienced a sharp increase. Figure 1: Global connection has become a complex web (Neal, 2013). In the end, the authors give an optimistic summary forecasting that the world will become richer, healthier and more developed. The urbanization will be higher; the technology will also achieve a higher level. There will be more innovations for challenges, more products and services for new consumers and more opportunities for entrepreneurs. In their words, today is ââ¬Å"an age of recurring miraclesâ⬠. According to the given information about the authors at the back of the book, they three are all scholars or doctors from Oxford, Stanford or the University of Southern California. Therefore, it can be believed that they have clear ideas of the content of their book. However, there is an important fact that the authors are all directors of McKinsey and of the McKinsey Global Institute. It is possible that they write the book for business purposes because MGI is a business institute which provides information to leaders in the commercial, public, and social

Joyce Travelbee Theory of Nurse to Patient Contact Melissa A. The need for a renewed look at nursing,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In 1969, Joyce had her second book published, Intervention in Psychiatrics Nursing: Process in One-to-One Relationship. Travelbee was a nursing theorist who developed The Human-to-Human Relationship Model, in which the development of the theory, human-to-human model and phases are what truly makes up a nurse. Joyce Travel bee (1926-1973) developed the Human-to-Human Relationship Model presented in her book Interpersonal Aspects of Nursing (1966, 1971). Travelbees theory was based on existential theory. The existential theory means that humans are constantly faced choices and conflicts and is accountable to the choices we make in life. She also used logotherapy in her theory, ââ¬Å"Logotherapy theory was first proposed by Viktor Frankel, a survivor of Auschwitz, in his book Manââ¬â¢s Search for Meaning (1963).â⬠(Joyce Travelbee, 2012). Logotherapy is a theory in which a patient is confronted with the meaning of his own life. Travelbeeââ¬â¢s mentor, Ida Jean Orlando, was a major influence in her theory. Orlandoââ¬â¢s model has similarities to the model that Travelbee proposed. The similarities between the two models are shown in Travelbeeââ¬â¢s statement: ââ¬Å"the nurse and patient interrelate with each other and by her description of the purpose of Nursing.â⬠(Travelbee , 1963). Evaluation of The Shining free essay sample
Horror stories are believed to be strictly scary. Although, that is somewhat true, horror stories do carry a powerful message. This novel is a perfect example of the problems that may occur in some families. Throughout the story it is constantly shown how evil is easily attracted to our weaknesses. Stephen Kingââ¬â¢s The Shining is a significant horror novel because of its characters, setting, and themes. There are numerous encounters with Jack Torrance in the story. His violent behavior does not formally start when he comes in contact the Overlook Hotel. It is shown earlier in the story. Jack was a former college professor fired from Stovington University for beating up a student. He is now jobless because of this incident. Also, Jack is a recovering alcoholic. When he hears of a job as a caretaker of a hotel in the remote mountains of Colorado he jumps at the opportunity. We will write a custom essay sample on Evaluation of The Shining or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Jack gets the job not knowing of the hotelsââ¬â¢ very violent past. He is depressed and is struggling to make ends meet. The Overlook Hotel provides him with what he thinks will turn out to be the best decision he has made for his family. Jack does not see anything wrong with moving his family to the hotel. Jackââ¬â¢s violence was formed from the hands of his own dad. So, it would be very bizarre that Jack would not be violent towards his own son Danny Torrance. Jackââ¬â¢s drinking usually results in his sudden burst of violence. Shown in the first chapter Jack breaks Dannyââ¬â¢s arm. Although given no reason for harming his son, King emphasizes that Jack was drunk when he did it. This shows how Jack is easily provoked to be violent when under the influence of alcohol. Yet, King stills tries to show the father figure in Jack and the positive side of him. The more we know about him the more we begin to understand his characterâ⬠(Russell 52). Jack is constantly battling the demons within him. Jackââ¬â¢s weakness for alcohol is what makes him easily under the control of the hotel. Danny has developed a love/hate relationship with his father. This relationship can make him very vulnerable to the influence of the hotel. Even though Jack abuses him, he still loves his father dearly. While at the hotel Danny has acquired a imaginary friend named Tony. Tony only plays the role as a source of information to help Danny. Danny has powers known as ââ¬Å"the shiningâ⬠. The shining gives Danny the strength to look past his love for his father at the end of the story. This was how Danny was able to survive. Danny then understands that he has not been recognizes his father for what he really is. We know little about Dannyââ¬â¢s mother Wendy. Wendy, unlike her son, has no special powers. She sees only the results of supernatural events that occur in the story. The hotel is not interested in her at all. Wendy tries to save Danny but can not. Jack is too powerful to overcome. Her use in the story is to only be a victim of her husbandââ¬â¢s violence. Every horror story has a ââ¬Å"good guyâ⬠. In the case of The Shining, Hallorann would be considered that guy. ââ¬Å"Hallorannââ¬â¢s function as the good father who takes over when the blood relative fails is common in early king novelsâ⬠(Russell 54). King giving Danny a evil father balances out when Hallorann came into play. Hallorann is used to explain the supernatural occurrences in the story. He also gives Danny the understanding that helps him to survive in the story. ââ¬Å"The worldââ¬â¢s a hard place Danny. It donââ¬â¢t careâ⬠(Russell 58). King does not fully explain why Hallorann is able to resist the evil in the hotel. Hallorann only role is to play the ââ¬Å"good guyâ⬠. The Overlook Hotel kitchen and Overlook Hotel room 217 is the evilest places in the hotel. Both rooms are extremely haunted. They both share the characteristic of being old and ragged. The kitchen is the home of the infamous pressure boiler. At the end of the story the boiler is soon over pressurized and blows the hotel to pieces. Hallorann and the hotelââ¬â¢s kitchen seems to have a connection. Out of all the rooms in the hotel the kitchen is the one room Hallorann is attached to. King dose not provide full details why but he does makes it obvious in the story several of times. Room 217 is haunted by the ghost of a woman that killed herself because she found out she couldnââ¬â¢t buy love. Throughout the story King makes it quite noticeable that the room is forbidden. This is also the room Hallorann warned Danny not to go in. Danny disobeys and entered the room and was almost killed by the woman. King uses several comparisons of fairy tales in the story. ââ¬Å"The traditional stories King presents form a bridge between the world of the child and the world of the adultâ⬠(Russell 56). Some stories belong to adults as well as children. Two of the numerous fairy tales mentioned in the novel is ââ¬Å"Hansel and Gretelâ⬠and the nursery rhyme ââ¬Å"Jack and Jillâ⬠. Jackââ¬â¢s death at the end of the story makes reference to Jackââ¬â¢s fall in the nursery rhyme. As in the nursery rhyme there is no explanation to why Jack fell, neither is there in The Shining. The first visit to the kitchen by Wendy contains many references to ââ¬Å"Hansel and Gretelâ⬠. ââ¬Å"I think Iââ¬â¢ll have to leave a trial of bread crumbs every time I come in,â⬠she saidâ⬠(Russell 56). The enormous list of foods Hallorann tells Wendy about makes us think of the giantââ¬â¢s feast. Hansel and Gretel survived due to their wits in fooling the witch. Wendy shoves Jack into the pantry much as Gretel stuffs the witch into her own oven. Although as not in ââ¬Å"Hansel and Gretelâ⬠, the evil is not destroyed easily. In The Shining Grady opens the door for Jack and freeing him. As in ââ¬Å"Hansel and Gretelâ⬠the characters in The Shining must also work together to destroy evil. Evil lurks within the hotel because of its past. The ghosts that haunt the hotel are the ghosts of gangsters and a woman that committed suicide. Both were attracted to the hotel because of money. Money symbolizes the abuse and power that can come with having it. It is obvious that the major cause of the corruption from beginning to the end of the story was money. The evil that was once at the hotel easily comes back alive after coming into contact with the Torrances. ââ¬Å"The evil forces come alive when they are exposed to Jackââ¬â¢s personality and Dannyââ¬â¢s powersâ⬠(Russell 55). King makes a clear justification that evil and pain can remain even if the person no longer exists. It is very ironic how Danny is the only one powerful enough to defeat the evil and save himself, his mother, and Hallorann. The Shining holds a very broad explanation of differences from other horror stories. It does not only shows a family battling supernatural forces but the inner demons of alcoholism, resentment, and rage. This story could be read for both entertainment and the morals it possesses. The connection of realistic problems and supernatural events occurrences is exactly what makes The Shining a remarkable story. It is safe to say that the storyââ¬â¢s characters, setting, and theme is what made the story delectable as it was.

Suicide is a desperate act and in this short story yellow by Peter Carty, the main character, Jon, ends up making the decision to commit suicide Essay Example
Suicide is a desperate act and in this short story yellow by Peter Carty, the main character, Jon, ends up making the decision to commit suicide Essay People with problems that they cannot seem to overcome often chose the road suicide. These problems can both be emotional and physical. And when the problem, that they seem to have, gets out of hand, taking their life suddenly seems to be the best solution. Some even thinks that the people around them will be thankful when they are gone. Or the suicide could be a way of telling them that they should have helped them. Either way, suicide is a desperate act. And in this short story yellow by Peter Carty, they main character, Jon, ends up making the decision to commit suicide. Jon, the main character, is in the late thirties, he is a bit overweight, but beside that he describes himself as being in good physical condition. He has a job at a magazine, which is why he is in Egypt to scuba-dive because when his stay is over he has to write about it. In general he doesnt seem pleasant about his life; he has a girlfriend, but their relationship is substandard the silences between them had multiplied, then lengthened into an empty continuum. And his job situation doesnt seem any better, because his trip to Egypt and scuba-diving is definitely something he hates Jon hated anything active or sporty. He connects scuba-diving with death, which is why he is so scared about it. He is horrified that he will drown, and therefore he is unable to stay calm under water. I think that what he is most afraid of is not the fact that he could drown, no; it is the fact that he would find himself devoured of emptiness. You could lose yourself in that, swallowed up and gone forever, a speck vanishing in the blue without sound or ripple. Buddhist talked of opening yourself up to emptiness well, here it was next to him [..]. He is afraid that he would become nothing, a no one. That he would disappear into emptiness. The magazine would let him go soon. His writing would dwindle, disappear down to a dot and vanish, his girlfriend would have left long before and hed cast off from the last of his friends and relatives. I think the word yellow is in the story used in the meaning coward or fool because a coward doesnt often have the guts to face his own problems. And that is here the subject suicide comes in. Suicide is often associated with being a coward, because of the fact that a coward cant handle his own problems. But Jon on the other hand believes the opposite; he thinks that committing suicide will show people that he isnt a coward or yellow as they call it. He thinks that if he commits suicide while he is scuba-diving it would perhaps look as an accident and everyone will be affected by his death; Bertie, his diving instructor, Brian, the other diving student, his boss, who forced him to go, and last but not least his girlfriend will all see that they should have listened to him and therefore it will make him significant. It seems like in yellow nature can invoke thoughts of dying. This is the same in the poem suicide note by Langston Hughes. In this the river is personified, being the one who asks the suicide to drink its water which means to die. Nature reminds us that were just changing pieces of a puzzle and that we dont have control and power over anything and especially death. If we compare Jon to everyday life, he finds himself in an extreme situation. I would personally feel uncomfortable if I was going to scuba-dive, because I dont feel like I am in control I cant breathe like if I was above water. This feeling of no control is what the text What is Reckless Op about? is about. Some people love being in a situation where they dont have any control at all. They love practicing extreme sports and pushing themselves to their limits. It is their way to feel that they are alive, because they often find themselves very close to death. However, Jon doesnt fell a thrill by being close to death. He is very insecure about it. He doesnt like to be on the brink of life it makes him feel yellow. Jons life isnt very satisfying and therefore he chooses the easy way out which is committing suicide. But the ironic thing about it is that Jons sees his act as a not yellow thing to do.

Bringing Democracy to Africa
Bringing Democracy to Africa Free Online Research Papers Does Africa need elective, majority democracy or some other method of government? Maybe what Africa needs is a different method of government instead of modern democracy. History and the statistics seem to favour this view, and it is the aim of this article to explore it.Obviously there are various forms of democracies and numerous other methods of governance which nations can choose to model themselves around. I have this feeling that constitutional democracy achieved by majority vote maybe somewhat flawed for the African continent, as indeed it is not universally embraced outside Western Civilization. Africa found itself adopting models of government of former masters by default, without regard to how they ruled themselves previously. Someone I highly respect first suggested this notion to me and of course I naturally scoffed at it, dismissing it out of hand. On close inspection of trends within the African continent and disasters that countries there have encountered as they strived to institute democracy along the Western model really got me thinking, and researching. Historically, Africans have always had kingdoms, which kingdoms were successful and whose subjects were always proud of their king. The king either died in office or was overthrown. Kings were kings for as long as they could subdue all would be conquerors. The closest form of government to African culture was therefore Aristocracy, Meritocracy or Monarchism. Think about it for a moment, I will give you examples in Southern Africa with which I am familiar. Take Shaka the Zulu, and other Zulu kings before him in the Zulu Kingdom. He won his leadership by proving his ability to lead and by conquest. He could only step down by conquest or death. Can you imagine him giving up his leadership to someone else simply because ten, twelve or fourteen years making up his two terms were up? There were other empires in Southern Africa, like the Munhumutapa Empire. The Mambos (kings) successfully ran their kingdom which covered large parts of many countries in Southern Africa to the Mozambiquean C oast for several years, only to be dislodged largely by the coming of the Colonialists. The Swazi Kingdom is another example, the vestiges of which remain to this day. I believe this was replicated across the African continent beyond Southern Africa. I obviously advocate for progressiveness and civilisation and am by no means implying Africa should have remained in that state where rulership was purely by conquest, but the argument is that there are other forms of government which might have been more suited to our African background than democracy along Western Standards; where an adored and respected leader could lead for as long as he was able, where he could appoint successors to his rulership. The idea of constitutional democracy and multi-partism, in my humble submission, has more managed to destabilise the African continent than do anything else. There could then be a mixture of, say Monarchism and some form of managed democracy, for example that you find in the British Empire or in many Islamic Countries. Another aspect of African kingdoms which we threw away with constitutional democracy was the Theocratic inclination of the Kingdoms. The Kings was often a Spiritual leader as well, or worked closely with Spiritual leaders. In effect, the King was obliged to be a moral leader, which requirement present day leaders gleefully trample upon. In the end, what has happened is that a lot of African leaders have clung on to power, but have been largely demonised not really because of failure alone, but because in the first place, they were expected to have vacated office earlier. In many instances, those that felt the leaders had overstayed, particularly from the West, created conditions where their positions were not tenable anymore. Obviously former colonialists had vested interests to protect, apart from governance, which is why they have encouraged anarchy in other former colonies where it suited them, for example in the DRC. So despite the gospel of Constitutional democracy being preached to Africa, there is an interesting pattern of long-serving African leaders, turning their countries into de-facto Monarchs. Name them(and years in power!): Omar Bongo (41), Muammar Gaddafi(39), Gnassingbe Eyadema (38), Eduardo Dos Santos (28), Robert Mugabe(28), Hosni Mubarak (27), Yoweri Museveni(22), Paul Biya(25), Denis Sassou Nguesso(20), Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali (21),King Makhosetive Mswati (21), Lansana Conte(20), Milton Obote(15), Idi Amin, Kibaki, Nunjoma etc. An affinity for power characterise these leaders, using any and all at their disposal to remain in power. Consequently they have been labelled dictators, but would that perception have been different if they were doing this under a different governance model. Just lets take one extreme and notorious example of Robert Mugabe. For those in the know, you will agree with me that RG did not start as a despot. He was loved by his people, envied by his foes and admired by those that beheld. Why, the queen of England is said to have given him the highest order of the British Empire, he is Sir Robert Gabriel Mugabe! In his early rule education, medical and many critical aspects of social welfare were accessible to the ordinary people. Zimbabwe is highly literate today because of his policy of Education for All. The catastrophic developments in Zimbabwe that have really led it down the precipice were largely done by RG to gain political mileage, because his rule was threatened. Right from gra nting of unreasonable War Veterans pensions, parcelling out land in an unplanned manner etc, was all mostly done to gain political high ground. My question is, would it have been different if he had not been under this pressure and knew he would rule or occupy a position of respect no matter what he did or did not do? On the other side, only Nyerere, Mandela, Chissano and a few others are exceptions to the rule in that they have stepped down graciously without manipulating their Countriesââ¬â¢ constitutions etc to remain in power, handing over power or losing graciously; but they are by far in the minority. The writer hence concludes that this cannot be coincidence: democracy is foreign to African states and another form of governance must be found, otherwise we will always be going backwards and forwards in our quest for stability, development and progress. The recent developments in Kenya show the fragility of our democracies even when they ââ¬Ëexistââ¬â¢.
